JAMB: Interested candidates can still register for UTME 2017 – Registrar ON MAY 19, 20176:41  The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said that interested applicants can still register for the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) being written in the country.  According to Prof. Oloyede, the Senate gave him a mandate last month to extend the registration period by one month which would run into May 28, being the final day the board would close its registration portal,  for interested candidates who may still want to register but have not done so because of some hitches.  Prof. Oloyede gave the assurance on Friday during his visit to a Computer-Based Centre, CBT, in Lagos. “As I speak, we have registered additional 1,100 candidates,” he said. Unilorin to admit 11000 out of 104,000 jamb Candidates

JAMB: Only 11 percent of UNILORIN applicants will be admitted – VC, Ambali The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, has said that of the 104,000 JAMB candidates that applied for admission into the university, only about 11 per cent would be admitted. He explained that the university could only admit about 11,000 students out of those writing the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, being conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Ambali spoke during the 40th anniversary of UNILORIN Department of History and International Studies, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Thursday. According to him, “UNILORIN remained the most applied university in Nigeria by admission seekers for the consecutive fourth time”. Unilag uploads screening information

In a release by its information unit, the university stated that admission into all courses/programmes for the 2016/2017 academic year will commence from 3rd August till 24th August, 2016. According to the Deputy Registrar, Information Unit, UNILAG, Mr Adebule T.O, candidates who made University of Lagos their first choice in the 2016 UTME and scored 200 and above are eligible for the screening. He noted candidates must however possess five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant O/level subjects including English Language and Mathematics. He said: “Candidates, who will not be sixteen (16) years of age by 31st October, 2016 are not eligible and need not apply. “Candidates who are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the screening. Such candidates will be allowed to upload their results when they are released only if they applied within the specified period. OAU begins Admission screening exercise for 2016/2017

FG warns Universities - Don't play with Fire, You don't have any Business Admitting Students

The Federal Ministry of Education on Monday sent a strong-worded statement to Nigerian universities, warning them that only the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) can admit students. The Director, Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mr. Ben Goong, stated that any institution that acted against the directive would have itself to blame. He denied media reports that the earlier decision to cancel post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was upturned.
