The Director, Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mr. Ben Goong, stated that any institution that acted against the directive would have itself to blame. He denied media reports that the earlier decision to cancel post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was upturned.

JAMB INTRODUCES POINT SYSTEM OPTION

Fresh, resonating calls  are being made for the scrapping of national tertiary admissions clearing house, JAMB, over controversies generated since Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu announced the scrapping of post-UTME tests by universities. Earlier in the week, after a meeting with administrators of universities and other tertiary institutions, the Joint Admissions & Matriculations Board announced yet another system by which students seeking admission into tertiary institutions can be admitted. This new system is called the Point System Option, or PSO. Stakeholders, especially university administrators and lecturers are demanding that JAMB be scrapped.  They also want full autonomy restored to the universities. They argued that since the buck of the admission process ends on the table of each university, it is only prudent that they are autonomous. They maintained that the ultimate authority on academic matters, particularly with regards to admission and award of de...

We therefore want to share some tips that will enable you prepare adequately and scale through successfully in 2016 UTME. JAMB EXTENDS REGISTRATION DATE

Image
The closing date for the registration of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as announced by JAMB, has been extended till 31st January. We therefore wish to advise all applicants who are yet to purchase their 2016 UTME forms to do so on or before January 31st, 2016. This also extends to candidates who are still waiting for supplementary or additional list of their choice schools for the 2015/2016 admission year to be released. It is always a bad idea to have all your eggs in one basket. There is no 100% guarantee that your name will appear on the list even if the school eventually releases it. To be on a safe side, get the JAMB form before it expires. That way, even if you miss the 2015/2016 admission, you will still stand a chance in the 2016/2017 session. Also remember the examination is expected to commence February 29th 2016 (all things being equal). We wish you success!
